Company Profile

Red Maple Architects, established in 1998 by Ken Berman and Clare Monteschio, specializes in the design of Residential and Light Commercial projects in Sonoma and Marin Counties.  Our design goal is to create timeless, one-of-a-kind architectural solutions that not only meet our clients needs and budget requirements but also showcase our knowledge, skill and creativity on projects ranging from traditional to contemporary.  We are familiar with and utilize ‘green’ products on all of our projects and combine a wide range of details, materials and spaces to make every project a tailored fit.

Design Process

Our design process is simple and efficient.  We begin each project with accurate as-built drawings of the existing conditions either measured with a laser for existing structures or with a thorough topographic survey by a licensed surveyor for new construction - both of which are prepared on Autocad.  From there we work via an old-school method of hand sketches on trace paper overlaid on top of the as-built drawings to quickly ascertain options regarding the overall design direction.  Lastly, we transfer the sketches back to Autocad for accuracy and ease of communicating digitally with owners, contractors, project engineers/consultants, city/county officials and/or other interested parties in preparation of design review and permit submittals.
