Project Narrative:
Previous owners of this house mistakenly removed much of the old interior moulding details and a few interior walls leaving the current Owner with what they called the ‘bowling-alley’ house since the main living area was a long and narrow space. To bring back some of the architectural flair we added new architectural details and built-in cabinets reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts period and a new side door that connected the Kitchen more directly to the back yard. |

Special Feature:
One of the challenges on this project was to incorporate an existing brick fireplace into the design. In order to minimize it’s scale, built-in casework flanked each side of the fireplace and new tubular skylights were installed to bathe the brick in natural light. The skylights not only made the space feel lighter but also made the old fireplace feel less massive. |
