Project Narrative:
The original structure was built in 1904 and retained much of the original features and details except for a previously remodeled Kitchen. The goal of this project was to not only give the owner a new, fully functioning Kitchen complete with contemporary appliances but to do so in a way that would enhance the character of the house. Another goal was to screen the appliances from view as much as possible which was achieved with the incorporation of a new island inspired by the old iconographic ‘farmhouse dining table’. The open floor plan, clean wall/soffit lines and zinc countertops/dark oak cabinets strike a nice balance between the original historic character of the house and elegant contemporary design. |

Special Feature:
The new island was modeled to resemble a piece of hand-built freestanding furniture. The incorporation of the zinc countertop and dark oak cabinets give it a consistency and harmony with the exiting décor. |
