Project Features:

Cherry Cabinets, Granite Countertops, Ceramic Tile Flooring, Vinyl Windows, Walk-in Tub, Electric Radiant Heating

Project Narrative:

The original bathroom was located in the corner of the upstairs living space, under the existing roof.  The only windows for the room were located behind an existing tub and shower.  The goal of the project was to increase the spaciousness of the bathroom and add windows to have views to the backyard.  Since the existing floor framing extended to the existing exterior wall line we framed a new dormer wall and added several new windows which not only added much-needed natural light and ventilation but also made the space feel like a treehouse given the close proximity of the existing redwood trees.

Special Feature:

The roof slope presented interesting vertical challenges to the space.  In order to rescale the space and lessen the vertical impact we added a stone feature wall at the back of the glass shower enclosure.  We also incorporated the existing windows by installing a walk-in tub adjacent to the shower enclosure.
